OTA ART FAIR 2018
Ota is one of the ancient towns in southwestern
Nigeria populated by the Awori people, an ethnic group of the Yorubas. The
tradition and culture of Ota people cut across art and craft which include some
Yoruba gods and deities such as Oro, Ogun etc.
The Art Exhibition tagged Ota Art Fair took place at
Ogun State Social Development Recreation Center, Ota Ogun State, Nigeria on the
22nd and 23rd of March, 2018 .
The fair focused and projected worthy socio-cultural and historical legacies of
the town and served as a vehicle towards further positive development of Ota
town and its environ.
The Ota Art Fair was organized by:
ADEOLA BALOGUN, a renowned sculptor, art lecturer at
Yaba College of Technology.
BELLO OLAYEMI AZEEM, the Head of Department, Fine
and Industrials Art at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
MICHAEL DAGOLD, a dedicated artist based in Ota town
BENJAMIN ONUORAH, a professional visual artist and
web developer, and the founder of
fineart.com.ng
The Art Exhibition was graced by the presence of
Olota of Ota, His Royal Highness, Dr. Adeyemi Abudukabir Obalanlege.
The Guest Speaker, Prince Engr. Yemisi Shyllon,
D.Litt, founder and president of Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Art Foundation
(OYASAF) talked about the Challenges and Solutions to the development of
tourism in Nigeria and Impact of tourism to national economy.
